If I were your Web Developer...

Inspired by a TikTok trend where developers analyzed and critiqued popular websites, I created my own version — a deep dive into design, accessibility, and performance from a web engineer’s perspective.

Web Design

Accessibility

This project is part of my ongoing Web Design Review Series, where I analyze and reflect on the design of popular websites I’ve personally used. For this edition, I chose Etsy, a platform known for its creative community and unique e-commerce experience.

The goal of this series is to explore what makes great websites stand out by focusing on:

  • 🎨 User Experience (UX): How intuitive, enjoyable, and user-centered the overall experience feels.

  • 🧭 Navigation: How smoothly users can explore and find what they need.

  • 🧩 Visual Hierarchy: How layout, color, and typography guide attention and support usability.

  • Accessibility: How inclusive and easy to use the site is for all audiences.

  • ⚙️ Overall Usability: How design and functionality work together to create a seamless digital experience.

Each review allows me to:

  • Apply my web design knowledge to real-world examples.

  • Identify best practices used by top brands.

  • Suggest areas for improvement through a thoughtful, designer’s perspective.

While preparing for summer internships, I discovered how valuable this exercise is in strengthening my understanding of UI/UX principles, user behavior, and responsive design. By analyzing real-world examples like Etsy, I’ve gained deeper insights into how design decisions shape user engagement and satisfaction.

This project not only demonstrates my analytical and creative thinking but also showcases my ability to communicate design critique clearly and thoughtfully — skills that I continuously refine as a web designer and developer.

If you’re a fellow designer, I’d love to hear your perspective! Let’s keep the conversation going and learn from each other. 🎙️

💭 Previous editions include reviews of Rare Beauty and Summer Fridays, where I explored how modern beauty brands use digital design to create meaningful, emotional connections with their audiences.
